Reasons for the decision:

The decision was made for the following reasons:- To make best use of the  council’s housing assets.  

 

This property is a three bedroomed mid terraced property. The property is part of the HRA portfolio and has been used as general needs accommodation until recently when it became vacant.  

 

Although the property is near a large concentration of council stock, the occupants of the  neighbouring, privately owned property have become vexatious complainers about social housing tenants and have conducted a long standing campaign of harassment and unsubstantiated allegations about the tenants.  Their views appear generalised about social housing tenants and it is reasonable to assume that any campaign will continue if another social housing tenant were to move into the property.

 

As the neighbouring property is privately owned there is no action that can be reasonably taken to respond to the vexatious and unwarranted allegations made.

This is the best option and the funds from the sale will be used to purchase more suitable accommodation for use as social housing.
