Councillor Owen was appointed Chair for this meeting.

Councillor Newby declared an interest as he knew the applicant, and withdrew from the room whilst the matter was discussed.

 

The Solicitor introduced the Sub-Committee and set out the procedure for the hearing advising of the Council’s policy and the requirements under Section 48(1) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

 

The Senior Licensing Officer presented an application from Mrs GS to renew a Private Hire Vehicle licence in relation to a vehicle which was over eight years old.

 

Ms S advised that she was representing Mr SL in support of the application. The applicant was invited to set out the scope of the work. A copy of the current MOT certificate and a satisfactory independent mechanical inspection report had been provided. She had supplied all of the necessary documentation as evidence that all issues had been rectified and that the advisable works had been carried out. 

 

RESOLVED that the application for the renewal of a Private Hire Vehicle licence for a vehicle which was over eight years old, be approved for a period of 12 months.

The Solicitor introduced the Sub-Committee and set out the procedure for the hearing advising of the Council’s policy and the requirements under Section 48(1) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

 

The Senior Licensing Officer presented an application from Mr SK to renew a Private Hire Vehicle licence in relation to a vehicle which was over eight years old. It was noted that all checks were satisfied, as the vehicle had been examined by a reputable inspector and the vehicle was exceptionally well maintained.

 

Mr K spoke in support of the application and provided an outline of the service history of the car. He addressed an anomaly relating to the start reading of the milometer which he had recently replaced, and he also provided a list of all of the parts associated with the repair of the vehicle.

 

RESOLVED that the application for the renewal of a Private Hire Vehicle licence for a vehicle which was over eight years old, be approved for a period of 12 months.

The Solicitor introduced the Sub-Committee and set out the procedure for the hearing advising of the Council’s policy and the requirements under Section 48(1) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

 

The Senior Licensing Officer presented an application from Mr NE to renew a Private Hire Vehicle licence in relation to a vehicle which was over eight years old. A copy of the current MOT certificate had been submitted, which included a number of advisory notes.

 

Mr S attended the meeting and spoke in support of the application and clarified the detail on the mechanical report and acknowledged that there were a number of advisory notes made in respect of the vehicle.  He also confirmed the intended use of the vehicle. 

 

RESOLVED that the application for the renewal of a Private Hire Vehicle licence for a vehicle which was over eight years old, be approved for a period of 12 months subject to the requirement that the advisory works be carried out satisfactorily.

The Solicitor set out the procedure for the hearing advising of the Council’s policy and the requirements under Section 48(1) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

 

The Senior Licensing Officer presented an application from Mr JH to renew a Private Hire Vehicle licence in relation to a vehicle which was over eight years old. Members were advised that Mr JH would not be present at the meeting, but he had requested that the matter should be heard in his absence. It was noted that a dealership motor vehicle inspection report had been submitted.

 

RESOLVED that the application for the renewal of a Private Hire Vehicle licence for a vehicle which was over eight years old, be approved for a period of 12 months, subject to the satisfactory receipt of an approved MOT inspection report.

The Senior Licensing Officer presented an application from Mr NP to grant a Private

Hire Vehicle Licence in relation to a vehicle which was over four years old.

 

The applicant was represented by Ms JW, who spoke in support of the application. She was invited to set out the circumstances leading to a request for the grant of the licence and explained there had been an oversight on their part with the renewal papers having been sent to a previous address. She confirmed that an MOT inspection and a number of advisable works had been carried out. 

 

RESOLVED that the application for the grant of a Private Hire Vehicle licence for a vehicle which was over four years old, be approved, subject to providing satisfactory evidence that the advisable works had been carried out.
