Minutes:

Councillor Pearson was appointed Chair for this meeting.

The Solicitor (MH) introduced the Sub-Committee and set out the procedure for the hearing advising of the Council’s policy and the requirements under Section 48(1) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

 

The Senior Licensing presented an application from Mr AG to grant a Private Hire Vehicle licence in relation to a vehicle which was over nine eight years old. It was confirmed that the MOT Certificate had now been received. 

 

Mr AG spoke in support of the application.

 

RESOLVED that the application for the renewal of a Private Hire Vehicle licence for a vehicle which was over nine years old, be approved for a period of 12 months, subject to the oil leak as set out in the advisory works in the mechanical inspection report being undertaken to the satisfaction of the Licensing Authority and the receipt for the rear wiper blade being submitted to the Licensing Authority.

 

Note: The applicant was advised of the updated Practices and Procedures for the control of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicles, Drivers and Operators and that private hire vehicles more than 10 years old brought before a Licensing Sub-Committee would be recommended for refusal.

Mr NB was not in attendance he was represented by My RG.

 

RESOLVED that the application for the renewal of a Private Hire Vehicle licence for a vehicle which was over nine years old, be approved for a period of 12 months, subject to the following advisory works set out in the mechanical inspection report

·         The outer gaiter of the L/H driveshaft damaged and leaking

·         Slight wear ridged on the rear brakes

·         Brake Pad Warning Light on throughout the road test

 

 being rectified to the satisfaction of the Licensing Authority.
