Appointment of Chair

To appoint a Chair for the meeting.

 

Minutes:

Councillor Hannan was appointed Chair for this meeting.

Councillors are reminded of the need to declare any disclosable pecuniary interests that relate to business on the agenda and which have not already been included in the register of interests, before any discussion takes place on the item. Unless the interest is sensitive, you must also disclose the nature of the interest. Application for the renewal of a Private Hire Vehicle over 9 years old (Mr RH)

To consider the report of the Assistant Director Environment.

 

Minutes:

The Chair introduced the Sub-Committee and the Solicitor set out the procedure for the hearing advising of the Council’s policy and the requirements under Section 48(1) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

 

The Senior Licensing Officer presented an application from Mr RH to grant a Private Hire Vehicle licence in relation to a vehicle which was over nine years old.

 

The Chair invited the applicant to outline the scope of his work and also provide an outline of the service history of the car.

 

Mr H spoke in support of the application. He had supplied a copy of the current MOT certificate and an independent mechanical inspection report.

 

RESOLVED that the application for the renewal of a Private Hire Vehicle licence for a vehicle which was over nine years old, be approved for a period of 12 months.

Application for the grant of a Private Hire Vehicle Licence over 4 years old (Mr MIS)

To consider the report of the Assistant Director Environment.

 

Minutes:

The Chair introduced the Sub-Committee and the Solicitor set out the procedure for the hearing advising of the Council’s policy and the requirements under Section 48(1) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

 

The Senior Licensing Officer presented an application from Mr MS to grant a Private

Hire Vehicle Licence in relation to a vehicle which was over four years old.

 

Mr M spoke in support of the application. He had supplied a copy of the current MOT certificate and an independent mechanical inspection report. He also tabled the service history of the vehicle. He explained that he had let the licence lapse as he had been unable to afford the renewal fee at the time as he was saving up to purchase a new engine, the original engine having malfunctioned due to a manufacturer error.

 

RESOLVED that the application for the grant of a Private Hire Vehicle licence for a vehicle which was over four years old, be approved.
