Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Bowkett, Crew, Morris and Robson.

Freedom of the City - Yolonda Anne Cullis Henson

1.         Mrs Yolonda Anne Cullis Henson

 

“RESOLVED that, in pursuance of its powers under Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council do confer on Mrs Yolonda Anne Cullis Henson Freedom of the City Status in recognition of her eminent service to the City of Exeter as a City Councillor for thirty two years, during which time she keenly supported and promoted the interests of the City”.

 

[Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972 provides that the foregoing honour may be conferred by resolution of the Council passed by not less than two thirds of the Members voting thereon, at a meeting specially convened for the purpose.] 

 

 

2.         Mrs Jo Pavey

RESOLVED that, in pursuance of its powers under Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council do confer on Mrs Jo Pavey Freedom of the City Status in acknowledgement of her services to sport, particularly athletics, which culminated in her winning the Gold Medal in the 2014 European Championships, as well as a Bronze Medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She has been a member of the Exeter Harriers Athletics Club since 1987 and has been the 5,000m national champion on no less than 6 occasions.”

3.         Liam Tancock

 

“RESOLVED that, in pursuance of its powers under Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council do confer on Liam Tancock Freedom of the City Status, due to his services to sport, particularly swimming, where he has amassed a series of 3 world and 5 commonwealth championships, as well as holding the world record for the 50m backstroke.  He has been a member of the Exeter Swimming Club for a number of years.”

 

[Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972 provides that the foregoing honour may be conferred be resolution of the Council passed by not less than two thirds of the Members voting thereon at a meeting specially convened for the purpose.]
