Exeter Dispensary and Aid in Sickness Fund

Description

The Exeter Dispensary and Aid-in-Sickness Fund provides grants to sick or disabled people on low income who live in Exeter.

One off grants for day to day needs including help with fuel or telephone bills, cooking or heating appliances, clothing, food, carpeting, household goods and appliances, beds and bedding and travel to and from hospital. The maximum grant is £250.

Larger grants are made to charities with similar aims. Grants are not given for items which are available from public funds, for structural alterations to property and for computers, courses of study and training, unless a clear therapeutic reason for these can be shown.

Requests are normally made through a recognised health or social worker, Housing Officer, CAB Adviser, etc. who can vouch for the applicant's situation and act as the channel for the receipt of a grant.
