Purpose:

To site the secure lockers, supplied by Juilan House, for the safe storage of belongings of street attached people for a trail period of up to 12 months on the curtilage of the Civic Centre in the area adjacent to the Co-Bikes rack. Following the 2020 SummitJulian House has purchased lockers in an attempt at taking a zero tolerance approach to the street attached community leaving belongings in the City Centre, which pose a security threat.

 

There are 24 but with blue doors, dimensions: 1800mm height, 325mm wide, and 450mm deep.

 

Decision:

To site the secure lockers, supplied by Juilan House, for the safe storage of belongings of street attached people for a trail period of up to 12 months on the curtilage of the Civic Centre in the area adjacent to the Co-Bikes rack. Following the 2020 SummitJulian House has purchased lockers in an attempt at taking a zero tolerance approach to the street attached community leaving belongings in the City Centre, which pose a security threat.

Reasons for the decision:

This space has been identified as the lowest risk of all the options considered and provides an opportunity to “clean up” the City Centre doorways (and other public areas currently used for storage) as part of the system work aimed at reducing urban ASB and improving community safety for all We wish to locate the lockers for a 12 month trial period on the Civic Centre campus (outside), probably near to the citizens advice bureau in Dix’s Field / Co Bikes hub. Planning have confirmed that the lockers can be treated as local authority permitted development in accordance with the relevant part of  the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended), so we will not require a planning application.
